Tim Brown to speak in chapel

The Rev. Dr. Tim Brown, president and the Henry Bast Professor of Preaching at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich., will speak at Northwestern College’s Christ Chapel on Wednesday, March 31, at 10:05 a.m. He will speak about the importance and effectiveness of God’s word. The public is invited to attend.

Brown became the seminary’s 11th president in 2008 after serving as a professor there for 13 years. From 1983 to 1995 he was the senior pastor of Christ Memorial Church in Holland, Mich., one of the fastest growing congregations in the United States and one of the largest in the Reformed Church in America. He also served as the Hinga-Boersma Dean of the Chapel at Hope College.

The author of Witness Among Friends and Let’s Preach Together, Brown is a frequent speaker at pastors’ conferences, college campuses and church renewal events. He has served on the Reformed Church in America’s Board of Theological Education; the Hope College Board of Trustees; and the executive committee of Words of Hope, a worldwide radio ministry.

Brown earned Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity degrees at Western Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree at Hope College.
