Youth ministry leader to speak at NWC

Youth ministry leader Chris Folmsbee will be a guest speaker in Northwestern College’s Christ Chapel Monday, Nov. 16, at 10:05 a.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 11:05 a.m. Folmsbee comes to Northwestern through the Ronald R. Nelson Scholars and Artists in Residence Program. The public is invited to attend.
His topic for Monday’s service will be “Becoming a Truth-teller: Meeting God for the First Time All Over Again.” On Tuesday he will speak about “Beauty as the New Apologetic.”
Folmsbee served as a youth pastor for nearly 12 years and is currently the senior manager at Barefoot Ministries, a training and publishing company located in Kansas City, Mo. He also serves as chief ministry officer at Youthfront, an organization committed to ministering to adolescents and bringing youth into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Folmsbee frequently travels throughout North America, speaking to and training youth pastors, parents and students.
The author of several books and articles, Folmsbee’s most notable book is A New Kind of Youth Ministry. Released by Zondervan in 2007, the volume guides readers on the way to discovering, developing and practicing a new youth ministry design and challenges them to take a fresh look at ministry. While at Northwestern, Folmsbee will also be speaking in a Foundational Issues in Youth Ministry class, taught by Dr. Mitch Kinsinger, associate professor of religion and Christian education.
