Exhibition to feature work by seniors and graduate

A senior art exhibition at Northwestern College Oct. 12–23 will feature the work of two art majors and one recent art graduate. The exhibit is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree in art.

Katie Dykstra, Kent Eisma and Brenda Ream will display their work in the college’s Te Paske Gallery in a show entitled “RED.” A public reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

Dykstra, of Maurice, is combining her major in art with a minor in psychology. Her pieces will include ceramics, acrylic paintings, and charcoal and pastel drawings.

Most of Eisma’s work consists of drawings of the human figure, especially hands and arms. The Orange City senior plans to teach English in Japan after graduating from Northwestern and would one day like to author and illustrate comics or graphic novels.

Ream graduated last spring from Northwestern and is currently taking classes at Western Iowa Tech while looking for work and a graphic design internship. Originally from Le Mars, she will exhibit abstract paintings, prints and photography, as well as ceramic pieces.

The Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th St. S.W. in Orange City. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
