Professor Douma is a middle school principal for the Hartley-Melvin- Sanborn school district.  She has also served as a special education consultant for Northwest AEA as well as a Professor of Practice at Northwestern College in the education department.  She started the BAEC online degree program.  She began her career in education as a special education preschool teacher. Her classroom and curriculum included modifications for students with developmental delays as well as individualized schedules and lessons for students with severe or profound disabilities. Mrs. Douma has mentored other teachers and worked collaboratively with Head Start and her community daycare providers. Douma holds endorsements in early childhood, early childhood special education, and administration.
