Dr. Hu joined Northwestern's faculty after conducting postdoctoral research at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and working on lithium battery pack development. He has research interests in renewable energy, energy harvesting, machine learning/artificial intelligence, plasma electrochemistry, lithium batteries, and nondestructive evaluation/testing. He earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in civil engineering.
