Chris Hausmann holds a doctorate from the University of Notre Dame, where his dissertation focused on the ways in which groups process experience. His undergraduate degree, from St. John's University in Minnesota, is in peace studies. Prior to joining Northwestern's sociology department, Dr. Hausmann worked in Notre Dame's Center for Social Research, helping researchers with survey design. His areas of expertise include social theory, social movements, research methods, microsociology, emotions, and global sociology. He also has interests in service learning and the outcomes of Christian educational experiences.
