Healthcare grads pass exams

All of Northwestern College’s 2012 athletic training and nursing graduates have passed their board exams on the first attempt.

The six athletic training majors’ 100 percent first-time pass rate on their Board of Certification exam is well above the national first-time pass rate of 82 percent. Overall, Northwestern’s athletic training program has a 100 percent pass rate since 2007.

The athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Graduate school placements of the program’s 2012 graduates include Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Kan., and Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Northwestern’s 19 nursing graduates posted a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the Board of Nursing exam. The national average is 92 percent; Iowa’s average is 90 percent.

The college’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Placements of the B.S.N. graduates include the cardiology unit at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls and the ICU at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
