Moss to direct choir at garden fundraiser

Dr. Linell Gray Moss, instructor in music at Northwestern College, will direct the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Choir, Sioux City, in a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb on Sunday, June 6, at 3 p.m.

Composed in 1943, the festival cantata features four soloists, SATB choir and organ, and sets sections of the poem Jubilate Agno by Christopher Smart. Written while Smart was in an insane asylum, the poetry is based in Scripture, and praises all of God’s creatures and creation. The organist will be Matthew Geerlings, and vocal soloists will include Victoria Conover, William Darwin, Randall Peters and Diana Guhin Wooley.

A freewill offering will benefit the new Saint Thomas Community Garden, a ministry to provide fresh food sources for the hungry in Siouxland as well as community development.
Saint Thomas Episcopal Church is located at 12th and Douglas Streets in Sioux City.
