NWC welcomes new staff

Two new directors at Northwestern College have begun their positions this summer.

Patrick Hummel is the new director of residence life. He joins Northwestern’s staff after seven years at Calvin College, serving most recently as assistant dean of residence life. He was a resident director at Indiana’s Anderson University for four years. A graduate of Taylor University, Hummel earned a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Hummel replaces Eric Anderson, who is a financial planner for Van Rooyen Financial Group in Orange City.

Tom Truesdell is the new director of academic support. He served as Northwestern’s writing center coordinator last year and taught writing at the college since 2006. A 2001 Northwestern College graduate, he worked as a writing center specialist at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill., and earned a master’s degree in writing from DePaul University before returning to campus.

Truesdell replaces Patti Thayer, who retired in May after completing 25 years of service.
