A Northwestern professor meets with students in his office.

Political science off campus

Learn out of class through an internship or off-campus study program. Northwestern’s Compass Center for Career & Calling will help you prepare for and find a program that matches your interests and talent. The experience will build your resume, increase your professional network, and maybe even lead to landing your first job.

American Studies Program

Nearly half of all NWC political science majors participate in the American Studies Program in Washington, D.C. Participants live close to Capitol Hill and intern with members of Congress, political parties, lobbyists or nonprofit organizations like Amnesty International, the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, or the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children.  Contact global education

Local and regional internships

Political science majors can also intern in area offices for local, state or federal officials or for national organizations with offices in the upper Midwest.
