Northwestern to virtually host Leadership in Education Conference

Northwestern College Graduate School & Adult Learning, in partnership with the Northwest Area Education Agency, invites educators and aspiring educators to attend the virtual Leadership in Education Conference on Oct. 19.

This one-day conference is filled with practical and applicable concepts for teaching and leading in the 21st century. With a theme of “Changing Paradigms for Changing Times,” the conference seeks to help educators be innovative in their approach to leading, teaching and learning.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19. As a virtual event, educators can attend the sessions live from anywhere, and access to all the recorded sessions will be available for one week following the conference. The event costs $90 per person, with a group rate of $75 per person for six or more people.

The keynote speaker will be Eric Sheninger, senior fellow and thought leader on digital leadership with the International Center for Leadership in Education. Previously, he was the principal at New Jersey’s New Milford High School, and under his leadership, the school became a globally recognized model for innovative practices. The endnote speaker will be Dr. Dana Schon, professional learning director for School Administrators of Iowa.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty in education right now; this conference can provide both practical and inspirational insight for educators and school leaders,” says Gary Richardson, director of Northwestern’s Master of Education program. “We hope to serve as many educators as possible with the virtual format. From topics like blended learning tips to leading with equity in mind and developing your leadership-life fit, the lineup of speakers is exceptional.”

The sessions are split into three different leadership tracks: systems leaders, teacher leaders and classroom leaders for ELL success. Live Q&A opportunities will be available, and attendees will have the ability to watch all sessions later if they can’t attend the full day.

The registration deadline is Oct. 15. Visit nwciowa.edu/events/ed-leadership or contact online@nwciowa.edu or 712-707-7388 for more information.
