Mead presents paper at biblical literature conference

Dr. Jim Mead, associate professor of religion at Northwestern College, presented a paper at the regional meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature on April 10 in St. Paul, Minn.

Entitled "Rabbinic Literature and the Problem of Jewish Biblical Theology," Mead's paper is part of his 2009-10 sabbatical research project on Judaism.

An ordained Presbyterian minister, Dr. Mead served as a pastor for 11 years prior to entering Princeton Theological Seminary, where he earned a doctorate in biblical studies. He joined Northwestern's faculty in 2000 and was awarded its Teaching Excellence Award in 2004. In 2007 Westminster John Knox Press published a textbook by Mead entitled Biblical Theology: Issues, Methods, and Themes.
