Sheppard to present student recital

Northwestern College senior Abby (Leusink) Sheppard of Hawarden will present a vocal recital on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The public is invited to attend; no admission will be charged.

Sheppard will be assisted by Lori Vande Brake, staff accompanist, on the piano and soprano Erin Brogan, a Northwestern senior. The recital will consist of 12 pieces, starting off with Hark, How All Things, from The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell. Sheppard, a soprano, will also perform such well-known compositions as O Mio Babbino Caro by Giacomo Puccini and When I am Laid in Earth by Purcell. She will close with Thomas Pasatieri’s Vocal Modesty.

Sheppard is attending Northwestern to receive her K-12 teaching endorsement after having earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 2004. A 2000 graduate of Sioux Center Community High School, Sheppard sings in Northwestern’s A cappella Choir and Heritage Singers and takes vocal lessons from Emily Lodine, lecturer in music. This spring Sheppard will be student teaching.
