Athletic website wins national award

Northwestern College’s athletics website, www.nwcraiders.com, tied for second place in the 2007–08 NAIA-SIDA publications contest. The award was among 100 announced at the NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America convention in Tampa, Fla., recently.

Savannah College of Art and Design won the website contest. Northwestern tied with Union College of Kentucky for second.

Launched last August, the site seeks to convey the quality of an NCAA Div. I athletics site while working with the staffing and resources available at an NAIA school. The site features frequent changes and interactivity to encourage constituents to come back often, offering fan polls, free webcasts, video clips and photo galleries.

The athletics website was developed by Dan Robinson, Northwestern’s web development manager, and Matt Bos, sports information director. Brian Wede, assistant sports information director, also provides content.

The athletic website previously received a Silver Award in the 2008 Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Six awards competition.
