Golf tournament participant wins car

The Northwestern athletic department's annual Red Raider Classic had some extra excitement on Friday, June 6, when participant Charlie Harrington, Sioux City, carded a hole-in-one. His perfect shot on the 165-yard, par-3 11th hole at Landsmeer Golf Club netted him a Ford Focus, donated by Mouw Motors of Sioux Center.

With his daughter Kymberlee preparing to enroll at NWC this fall—and play on the golf team—Harrington took the cash value. Incidentally, this was his third hole-in-one. Just five weeks earlier, he won $1,000 for a perfect shot.

About $8,300 was raised for the athletic department at the event, with 127 golfers participating. The golfers could designate their donation to the sport of their choice.

Next year's Red Raider Classic will be on June 5.
