Oratorio Chorus and NWC choir to perform

The Sioux County Oratorio Chorus and Northwestern College A cappella Choir will team to perform Mozart’s Requiem on Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students in advance, available at the Northwestern and Dordt music department offices, Dove Christian Book Store in Orange City, True Vine Christian Books in Sioux Center, and from Sioux County Oratorio Chorus members. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Several soloists will be featured throughout the evening, including alto Emily Lodine, an adjunct voice instructor at Northwestern. John Muriello, a faculty member at the University of Iowa, will sing bass. Susan Van Kley of Chicago, a 1987 alumna of Northwestern, will sing soprano. Tenor will be sung by Dr. Stephen Branch, a 1979 Northwestern alumnus from Kearney, Neb., who has just been appointed chair of the music department at San Diego Christian College in El Cajon, Calif.

Dr. Thomas Holm directs both the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus and the A cappella Choir. An associate professor of music at Northwestern, he also directs the Heritage Singers chamber choir. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Illinois and completed Master of Music degrees at the University of Alberta and the University of Idaho. This is Holm’s eighth season directing the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus.
