Residents invited to consider courses at NWC

Area residents are invited to consider taking a course at Northwestern College this fall. The semester begins Aug. 20.

A complete list of fall semester courses is available at www.nwciowa.edu/registrar. It lists classes offered both online and onsite.

Online courses that could be of interest include American National Government, College Writing and Cultural Anthropology. Teachers could further their education by taking online courses such as Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Coaching Endorsement and Substance Abuse.

Area residents may find special interest in such onsite courses as Christian Witness and Community Development, offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m.; Foundational Issues in Youth Ministry, offered Tuesday and Thursday at 9:25 a.m.; Intercultural Communication, a religion course offered the second half of the semester (beginning Oct. 16) at 8:55 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Introduction to Design, a theatre course offered Tuesday at 9:25 a.m.; and Teaching Literature to Adolescents, offered the second half of the semester (beginning Oct. 17) at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Northwestern College alumni who are at least 25 can audit a maximum of four credits per semester tuition-free. In addition, any individual who is at least 25, has not earned a bachelor’s degree, has not been a Northwestern student within the past five years and hasn’t been a full-time student at another college within the past five years can receive the Adult Education Grant, which provides free tuition for four semester credits.

Enrollment in specific classes will be on a space-available basis. Students who have never attended Northwestern will need to apply for admission. Non-degree seeking students should complete the guest application. Students who have previously completed courses at Northwestern need to complete a re-enrollment form. There is a separate application for online learners. Application instructions and forms can be accessed at www.nwciowa.edu/apply.

The last day to register for classes is Monday, Aug. 26
