NWC to host concert by Remedy Drive

Christian rock band Remedy Drive will present a concert at Northwestern College’s Christ Chapel on Monday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Northwestern’s student activities office.

Cost for the general public is $3. All tickets are general admission and available at the door. Admission is free with a Northwestern ID card.

Founded in Lincoln, Neb., in 1998, Remedy Drive released five independent albums and toured over 200 concerts per year before signing with Word Records in 2008. The band’s first CD on Word, Daylight is Coming, charted fifth on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums that September. A song from that recording, All Along, is included in the just-released Wow #1s and Wow Hits 2010 compilation CDs.

Drawing comparison to groups like Switchfoot and Coldplay, Remedy Drive is known for its raw energy, piano-driven rock and catchy melodies. Frontman David Zach says the group’s goal is to reflect real life while pointing listeners to something more. “We’re all getting sold this lie that the stuff we own can make you happy and validate who you are,” says Zach. “We want to sing about something permanent, something that’ll never burn out or fade away. Ultimately, we want to give our listeners hope.”
