NWC team to serve in New Orleans over Christmas break

Ten Northwestern College students, faculty and staff will spend Jan. 2–9 on a service project in New Orleans.

Partnering with Trinity Christian Community, the team will renovate houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 in the Hollygrove neighborhood. Northwestern volunteers expect that one of their primary tasks will be to replace damaged drywall. They will also assist in an after-school program.

“I hope the students will be able to recognize they have something to offer,” says Brittany Caffey, who is an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer coordinator at Northwestern. “This is a great opportunity to do something to make a difference.”

Northwestern College has sent hurricane relief teams to the Gulf Coast every semester break since 2005.
