Students to present dance showcase Oct. 8-10

NOTE: All eight shows of RUSH are sold out. If you still seek tickets, you are encouraged to arrive at the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center box office within an hour prior to the performance you want to attend and place your name on the waiting list. In the past, nearly everyone on the waiting list has been admitted to the show. (10-06-09)

More than 190 Northwestern College students will present RUSH, a student dance concert, on Oct. 8, 9 and 10 in the England Proscenium Theatre at the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center.

The seventh annual show will feature 18 dances including modern, salsa, contemporary, musical theatre, techno-funk, swing, lyrical ballet and a tribal fusion belly dance.

Performances will be at 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8; Friday, Oct. 9; and Saturday, Oct. 10. There will also be shows at 2 and 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Interim Producer Vaughn Donahue is excited for another year of RUSH. “There have been over 100 RUSH dances over the past seven years, but the choreographers continue to come up with something new each year and continue to push the envelope,” he says. Donahue says RUSH is built on the belief that everyone can dance as long as they are willing to learn and push themselves.

Tickets for the performance can be reserved after 4 p.m. on Oct. 1. They will only be available by e-mailing rush@nwciowa.edu. Tickets will be $1 payable at the door, and there will be a limit of 10 tickets per order.
