NWC to offer theatre workshops for middle schoolers

Middle school students are invited to Young Actors Workshop (YAW), a week of theatre workshops, June 1–5, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. each afternoon, at the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center on the campus of Northwestern College.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn acting, improv, stage movement and non-weapon stage combat. Participants will stage a performance for family and friends Saturday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m.

YAW will be led by April Hubbard, a member of Eastcheap Theatre Company and a theatre professor at Dordt College. She will be assisted by Rachel Foulks, a theatre graduate student at the University of South Dakota, and Brady Huffman and Jon Manchester, Northwestern College theatre students.

YAW is for students who’ve completed fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth grade. Contact Northwestern’s theatre events manager, Kelly Van Marel, at 712-707-7341 or kvanmar@nwciowa.edu to register. Cost is $25 for participants registered before May 31; $35 to register at the door.
