NWC to host Pastors Conference

Area pastors and their spouses are invited to attend Northwestern College’s annual Pastors Conference Tuesday, March 25. The day of inspiration, renewal and fellowship—provided free of charge—features sessions with the Rev. Roger Nelson, senior pastor of Hope Christian Reformed Church in Oak Forest, Ill.

The conference begins with registration and coffee at 8 a.m., followed by a welcome at 9 and the first session at 9:15. Nelson will speak three times on the theme “Pastor to Pastor: The Letters to Timothy.” Lunch will be provided, and the conference will adjourn at 3 p.m.

A reflective practitioner of ministry in a postmodern culture, Nelson is a writer, speaker and adjunct professor at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. He graduated from Northwestern College in 1982, earned a Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary, and attended Princeton Seminary.

Originally ordained in the Reformed Church in America, he has served small inner-city churches and a historic East Coast church. He was also an area director of Young Life in Chicago, as well as a Bible teacher and chaplain for high schools in Chicago and Grand Rapids, Mich.

Approximately 150 pastors and spouses representing different denominations are expected to attend Northwestern’s Pastors Conference. The reservation deadline is March 14.
