Middle East missions leader to speak

The Rev. John Carrick, British director of Middle East Christian Outreach (MECO), will be a guest speaker at Northwestern College Feb. 25. He will speak in chapel at 10:05 a.m. about sharing the gospel in the Middle East.

Prior to the service, video clips containing information about mission service will be playing. The public is invited to attend.

After speaking in chapel, Carrick will be available to talk with students and community members in the Rowenhorst Student Center. He will have a display table with informational materials about short-term missions work and summer programs and be available for answering questions as well.

Carrick, a Scotland native, is one of six national directors of MECO, an interdenominational mission serving the church in the Arab world. The agency is particularly involved in church work, education, theological training, health care, and distribution of Christian literature and videos.

Carrick started his career as a youth evangelist and later served as a pastor for 23 years before joining MECO. Carrick has traveled extensively in the Middle East and the U.K., and also in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, where he serves as an adviser to MECO’s national directors and councils.
