Program Director, M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies (tenure-track)
Northwestern College seeks a program director for the Master of Science program in physician assistant studies. This new position (12-month, tenure-track) is an exciting opportunity to develop a program from its inception; the director will cast the vision, structure the curriculum, participate in hiring faculty, lead the college in obtaining accreditation, and oversee the program. The program director will have successful experience in teaching, administration, program assessment and budgeting.
Northwestern College is pursuing provisional accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). ARC-PA will review Northwestern’s application at its June 2019 meeting, and students will begin studies in the fall of 2019. The program director will be instrumental in developing the application and leading the college through the accreditation process.
Northwestern enjoys a strong reputation in the health sciences based on the career accomplishments of our faculty and graduates, and on the college’s commitment to courageous and confident inquiry, exploration and discovery of God’s truth as it is revealed through the natural world. Our new health and natural sciences building, opening in 2018, will provide state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for our biology, chemistry and nursing departments.
Must be a licensed physician assistant with NCCPA certification, or an allopathic or osteopathic physician licensed in Iowa and certified by an ABMS- or AOA-approved specialty board.
- Participate in teaching, scholarship and institutional service at Northwestern College
- Supervise the medical director, principal faculty, instructional faculty and staff within the physician assistant program
- Develop, review and revise guiding program documents
- Design, implement and coordinate curriculum
- Participate in selection of students for admission
- Conduct academic advising for students in program
- Ensure services are available to students, including remedial instruction
- Conduct student and program assessment
- Lead and maintain program accreditation
