Chemistry (tenure-track)

Northwestern College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in chemistry to begin in the fall of 2018. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field and is prepared to teach organic chemistry with labs. The department is especially interested in candidates who can work collegially and effectively with others while also contributing to the general/introductory chemistry and analytical chemistry offerings. Hiring preference will also be given to persons with practical chemistry experience who are eager to involve students in research, experiential learning and data analysis. The normal teaching load is 24 hours per academic year with additional responsibilities of scholarly activity, student advising and faculty governance. ABDs and professionals with a master’s degree will be considered, but a completed doctorate is required by the time of tenure review.

The candidate will exhibit a love of Christ, an embrace of the Gospel, and support the college’s mission as expressed in our Statement of Christian Identity, Vision for Learning and Vision for Diversity. Northwestern College is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. We seek faculty invested in teaching, a program of scholarly activity, and the mission of excellence in the liberal arts, as a vital expression of commitment to Christ’s redemptive work in the world. Accordingly, Northwestern College seeks to more fully reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the body of Christ in its faculty, staff, administration and students. Women and candidates from historically underrepresented groups are enthusiastically encouraged to apply.
