Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time faculty position (assistant professor, tenure-track) in English to begin August 2022. The successful candidate can expect to teach courses primarily in the areas of media writing and First-Year Seminar. Other courses may include English pedagogy, visual rhetoric and multi-modal composition. The typical teaching load for this position is 24 credit hours per academic year along with expectations for scholarship and institutional service.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in English or closely related field and demonstrate effective teaching. Candidates will exhibit a love of Christ, an embrace of the Gospel, and support the college’s mission as expressed in our Statement of Christian Identity, Vision for Learning and Vision for Diversity. Northwestern College is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. We seek faculty invested in teaching, a program of scholarly activity, and the mission of excellence in the liberal arts, as a vital expression of commitment to Christ’s redemptive work in the world.  

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will bring enthusiasm, experience and energy to an English department that serves primarily English education majors and enjoys a fruitful relationship with our public relations program. Preferred qualifications include composition pedagogy, visual rhetoric and First-Year Seminar. Additional expertise in general literary study and public relations writing is also desirable.
