Physician Assistant

Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the physician assistant (PA) program to begin August 2020. The Northwestern College PA program has applied for provisional accreditation from the ARC-PA, and plans to enroll students in the summer of 2020. The person hired to the position will join our team of medical providers and educators to complete the development of the program, and will then be a primary teaching faculty member in the PA program.

This individual will have the option to be tenure-track or professor of practice. Qualified candidates must be PAs, allopathic physicians or osteopathic physicians who are licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa (licensure will be required upon hiring). PA candidates must have current NCCPA certification and physician candidates must have current specialty board certification.

The successful candidate will work with the program faculty to develop, implement and assess the didactic curriculum for the PA program. Faculty members will be responsible for teaching in areas of their expertise and interest, including individual, lab and team-taught courses. These persons will serve as faculty advisers to PA students and will work to select students for the program, perform self-study for accreditation, and evaluate student progress in developing essential skills for PA practice. Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

The candidate will exhibit a love of Christ and an embrace of the Gospel, and support the college’s mission as expressed in our Statement of Christian IdentityVision for Learning and Vision for Diversity. Northwestern College is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. We seek faculty invested in teaching, a program of scholarly activity, and the mission of excellence in the liberal arts, as a vital expression of commitment to Christ’s redemptive work in the world. Accordingly, Northwestern College seeks to more fully reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the body of Christ in its faculty, staff, administration and students. Women and candidates from historically underrepresented groups are enthusiastically encouraged to apply.
