Dr. Dana Bates serves as the primary faculty member for this program. He is the founder and executive director of New Horizons Foundation based in Lupeni, Romania, and holds a Ph.D. from the Oxford Centre for Missions Studies at the University of Wales.

Dana Bates graduated in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. He earned a Master of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and a doctorate from the Oxford Centre for Missions Studies at the University of Wales. Dana envisioned and supervised the development of Romania’s first ropes course in 1999. In 2000, he founded New Horizons Foundation to launch youth development programs in the Jiu Valley. Dana has participated in various conferences, courses and seminars relevant to experiential education, receiving relevant professional certificates. In his role with the New Horizons Foundation, his responsibilities include vision casting, fundraising, curriculum development and project management.
