Professor Shin has earned several art degrees, including a M.F.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, a B.F.A. in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.F.A. in Industrial Design from Cho Sun University in South Korea. As an artist, she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in cities throughout the United States, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, as well as in northwest Iowa. Shin is a recipient of a 2017 Artist Fellowship from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.
