Professor Shin has earned several art degrees, including a M.F.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, a B.F.A. in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.F.A. in Industrial Design from Cho Sun University in South Korea. She recently has had solo exhibitions at Whittier college in CA, the Des Moines Art Center in IA, and A.I.R. gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Shin is a recipient of a 2017 Artist Fellowship from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. She is on sabbatical in South Korea during the Fall 2019 semester, creating new works for exhibition nationally and internationally.
