Emily Stokes holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from Arizona State University and bachelor’s degree in studio art and English from Wellesley College. In 2018, she had solo exhibitions at Upper Iowa University, the Evanston Art Center (IL), Belmont University (TN), and the Krasl Art Center (MI). Her work has been juried into over fifty group exhibitions. Honors include a "Purchase Award" at the 29th Annual McNeese Works on Paper Juried Exhibition (2016), an Alice C. Cole '42 Alumnae Grant from Wellesley (2014), and “Best of Show” honor at the Mid-American Print Council’s juried show (2008). Stokes also has presented papers at the Southeastern College Art Association and Mid-American Print Council conferences. Prior to joining Northwestern's faculty, she taught at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio, and served as an instructor for the Ann Arbor Art Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
