Frequently asked questions
Q: How do I schedule an appointment to meet with a tutor?
A: You can sign up to meet with a tutor on the board outside the center. Appointments range from 30 to 60 minutes; if your paper is longer than four pages, we recommend signing up for a 60-minute appointment.
Q: What should I bring to my session?
A: All you need to bring is yourself, your writing assignment or prompt, and any questions or ideas you have. If you have a draft, please bring two hard copies—one for you and one for the tutor.
Q: Will a tutor fix my grammar?
A: Our tutors are not editors who will merely fix your paper. Instead, they will explain and help you identify and correct grammatical errors in your writing.
Q: How often can I work with a tutor?
A: Pending availability, you can work with a tutor as often as you wish. In fact, many students find a tutor they work well with and meet with that same tutor throughout the semester or year.
