Kyle Van Den Bosch has been named head volleyball coach at Northwestern College. Van Den Bosch replaces former head coach Mike Meyer, who was at the helm for 16 years. Van Den Bosch will take over a program that went 21-10 last season and qualified for the NAIA regional tournament.
Van Den Bosch most recently served as the junior varsity coach at MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City, Iowa, where he led his squad to a 20-2 tally. Prior to that, he was the head volleyball coach at Calvin Christian School in Escondido, Calif for six years. In 2000, his team finished in the final four in the state tournament, and Van Den Bosch earned volleyball coach of the year honors for that season. He served as head volleyball coach at Western Christian High School (Iowa) in 1997. He led his team to a 42-3 record and a sub-state berth before losing to the eventual state champion. Van Den Bosch has also been assistant volleyball coach at Dordt College (Iowa) on two separate occasions.
Said Athletic Director Barry Brandt, “We are very excited to have Kyle join our athletic staff at Northwestern. He is a very gifted volleyball coach and will provide excellent leadership for our program.”
In addition to his volleyball coaching duties, Van Den Bosch has taught physical education while at Calvin Christian and MOC-Floyd Valley. He will be teaching in the kinesiology department at Northwestern.
“I am excited to be a part of the Northwestern campus community and the tradition of excellence that surrounds the college,” commented Van Den Bosch.
Van Den Bosch and his wife, Dawn, have a sixth-month old son, Jackson.
