Vocare: Find Your Place is a Northwestern College project funded by a Lilly Grant; it began in 2003 with a $2 million gift from the Lilly Endowment for a program that theologically explores vocation (TEV). “Vocare” is a Latin verb that means “to call” and communicates specifically a call from God. The over 30 initiatives of Vocare, outlined in the Lilly Grant proposal, all have as their common goal to help Northwestern students discover and then commit to their calling--to find their place. Vocare seeks to help students better integrate their academic, spiritual and co-curricular learning and experiences while at Northwestern into a map that directs them to a future in which they can use their gifts to meet the world’s needs.
