Leadership opportunities
For students who are leaders—or want to develop as leaders—there are more than 200 leadership positions available on campus. Students work as resident assistants in the halls and apartments. They tutor fellow students and set an example as athletic team captains. They chair clubs and organizations and lead discipleship groups, Bible studies and chapel worship. They serve on student government, plan and lead fall orientation for new students, and help build community as members of the Student Activities Council. Every January, Leadership Opportunity Night showcases many of the leadership positions available on campus for the following year.
Each spring, Northwestern hosts a leadership conference that attracts hundreds of area college students. Participants learn from leadership experts and are able to meet with students from other campuses who hold similar leadership positions.
Students who want to focus more on leadership can join the new Student Leadership Council. This group of students meets bi-monthly to learn about leadership theory and practices and have the privilege of hearing from a variety of Christian leaders. This year, the council will attend one of the nation's largest leadership conferences, the Catalyst Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
