Intramurals
Northwestern’s intramural program provides students with competitive and non-competitive recreational sports and activities designed to promote personal fitness, encourage involvement, promote friendships and provide fun. More than one-fourth of NWC students participate in intramurals. While intramurals is a program for students, participation by faculty and staff is welcomed and encouraged.
The intramural program is divided into four eight-week sessions that closely follow the academic calendar. A crew of five work-study students and the intramural director plan, advertise and supervise the college’s intramural activities. Sign-ups take place at the RSC desk and at a sign-up table in the dining hall lobby the week prior to the start of play.
When appropriate, the intramural program offers men’s, women’s and co-recreational leagues, or divisions. At times, open leagues or tournaments are offered, which include all skills levels and both genders. Other times, players participate in tournaments divided by skill level.
The majority of intramural activities are played either in the Rowenhorst Student Center or on the intramural fields located to the east of the Bultman Center. Outdoor activities are scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and indoor activities, from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
For more information, contact the intramural office at 712-707-7231.
