Considering a career in law enforcement, Stephen is pursuing a career concentration in criminal justice along with his sociology major. He’s active in track and field and intramurals and works at the Rowenhorst Student Center. Stephen has also participated in a Spring Service Project to New Orleans, attended an all-campus retreat in the Black Hills, served as a campus ambassador and performed on the coed dance team for their Valentine’s Day performance.

In God we trust
“In making my decision about where to attend college, I really struggled with the money issue. I wanted a school that would be academically challenging, but could also help me grow in my faith. In the end, I trusted God and came to Northwestern. He took care of everything else.”

Observe, examine, discover
“Because of my interest in law enforcement, I thought sociology would help me better understand and react to people. Being a sociology major has taught me to examine things from different perspectives. I have learned not to just view people on a superficial level, but to dig deeper and discover why they are the way they are and what might help them become something better. My major has also shed light on what motivates the behaviors of individuals and groups.”

“The course work is challenging and the professors are extremely knowledgeable. The profs really care about students. They care enough to stretch us out of our comfort zones, even if we don’t like it. I’ve discovered my professors are amazing people of great integrity and character.”
