Dr. Monsma teaches Cultural Anthropology, Social Problems, Contemporary Marriage and Family, Deviance and Social Control, Ethnographic Research, and Sociology of Gender. He holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh.
A champion of social justice, Dr. Monsma is a frequent presenter at Association of Christians Teaching in Sociology conferences and has served as the organization’s president. He also has led students on study abroad trips to Taiwan in 2000 and to the Sultanate of Oman in 2004 and 2006.
