Heemstra Hall

Built in 1950, Heemstra Hall houses 100 men. It’s named for Dr. Jacob Heemstra, the first president of Northwestern College.

Room dimensions/description: 11 x 12; the walls are plaster, the majority of the rooms have tiled floors
Closets/storage space: Rooms have 2 closets; 5 community storage spaces throughout the hall
Furniture/amenities provided: Bunk bed, dresser (to be shared with a roommate), desk with chair
You’ll want to bring your own … couch, mini fridge, fan, phone, carpet remnant if you get an uncarpeted room
Showers per student: About 1 shower for every 6 men
Community spaces: 24-hour study/socializing lounge, 2 computer lounges, prayer lounge
Laundry/cooking facilities: Community laundry room with 3 washers/3 dryers; community kitchen with stove and microwave
Distance to the caf’: Close enough
Heemstra traditions: Heemstra Harvest Bash, Melon and Gourd … Heemstra probably has the most traditions of any hall on campus. You’ll just have to live here to find out what they all are.
