Students say …

Residence life

Over 85 percent of Northwestern’s students live on campus. They praise Northwestern’s rigorous academic programs but are quick to add that a lot of their learning takes hold and becomes meaningful in conversations with roommates and friends over late-night pizza or during 2 a.m. “study breaks.” Dorm life also includes water fights, all-nighters, pranks and borrowing of clothes, CDs and DVDs. In August you’re wingmates from different states, countries and cultures; by May, you’re family.

Each campus residence has a professional resident director (RD) whose job isn’t making rules—it’s making relationships. The RDs are assisted by student resident assistants (RAs) who live on every wing or floor, helping students adjust, facilitating Bible studies, making plans for learning, service and fun, and simply being a great friend.
