Religion professor completes doctoral degree

Mitch Kinsinger, assistant professor of religion and Christian education at Northwestern College, has earned his doctoral degree.

Kinsinger, a member of Northwestern’s faculty since 2000, was awarded a Ph.D. in religious studies from the University of Iowa in December. His dissertation is entitled “‘Zealous for Publick Liberty and the Wellfare of Their Country’: Rationalist Presbyterians and the Struggle for Freedom of Religion in America, 1694–1769.”

American religious history, the history of Christianity and youth ministry are the subjects taught by Dr. Kinsinger. A graduate of Wheaton College, Kinsinger holds a Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary. His research interests include Colonial American religion, religious pluralism and American evangelicalism.
