As a Christian, you may have many questions about God, the Bible, the church and your faith. Perhaps you are feeling called to serve as a pastor, would like to work in youth or children’s ministry, or are drawn to full-time missions. Maybe your dream is to teach in a college or seminary—or to help the hurting as a counselor or hospital chaplain.

Northwestern’s religion faculty will help you gain a foundational knowledge of Scripture and theology, develop your Christian worldview, and find the skills and tools necessary to communicate your faith to others. Our religion department is large for a college our size. It’s also composed of experienced and effective teachers: Religion department faculty won Northwestern’s annual Teaching Excellence Award four times during a seven-year period. Perhaps that's why our religion program is included in Rugg's Recommendations on the Colleges, a national guidebook that recommends specific college departments to prospective students.

Trained as scholars with different areas of expertise and extensive church ministry experience, Northwestern’s religion professors are also approachable and involved in students’ lives. They’ll challenge you to love God with your mind and heart, help you grow in your Christian walk, and guide you in developing skills for ministry.
