Pre-professional programs

Some careers require either graduate study beyond the bachelor's degree or other highly specialized study at another institution after one to three years of a liberal arts foundation at Northwestern. Pre-professional programs more directly prepare you for advanced graduate or other focused study.

Each pre-professional program has a faculty adviser. If you're pursuing a pre-professional program, you will work closely with your adviser to choose appropriate courses, explore the requirements of various graduate programs to which you intend to apply, and learn about your career opportunities.

*The program adviser's department is in parentheses. In some cases, the pre-professional program must be paired with a prescribed major. In other cases, one of several majors supports the pre-professional program.
