Northwestern's online analytics certificate is a 6-course program designed to be completed in 12 months (3 semesters), taking one course at a time.
Analytics courses
Introduction to Data Analytics (2 credits, 4 weeks)
Overview of the major concepts and topics in data analytics, including ETL (extract-transform-load) processes, statistical analysis, programming and scripting, and visualization
Advanced Data Analytics (4 credits, 8 weeks)
In-depth coverage of major concepts and topics in data analytics, including statistical analysis, simulation, predictive modeling, data mining, programming and scripting, and visualization
Introduction to Text Analytics (3 credits, 8 weeks)
Introduction to text pre-processing, categorization, clustering and information extraction
Advanced Text Analytics (3 credits, 8 weeks)
Systematic investigation of text analytic techniques, classification, information retrieval, information extraction and predictive text analytics
Introduction to Predictive Analytics (3 credits, 8 weeks)
Introduction to linear and generalized linear models, multiple regression, logistic regression, survival data models model specification and model selection
Advanced Predictive Analytics (3 credits, 8 weeks)
Linear models, multiple regression, logistic regression, survival data models model specification and model selection
Program readiness
Analytics courses build on statistics and computational learning from the following courses (or their equivalents). The courses are not official prerequisites, but applicants will need a comparable level of competency to be successful in the analytics courses.
