Northwestern music students to perform recital

Northwestern College juniors Rebekah and Sarah Stofer and senior Coralyn Kutzner will be performing at a student recital on Sunday, April 21, at 4 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.  

Rebekah Stofer, a music performance major from Dewitt, Iowa, will play the French horn. She takes lessons from Dr. Timothy McGarvey, professor of music. During the recital, she will play “Concerto No. 1 Movement No. 1 and No. 2” by Wolfgang Mozart, “Villanelle” by Paul Dukas, “Nocturne” by Reinhold Gliere and “Waltz” by Henri Martelli.

Rebekah Stofer will join with her twin sister Sarah, a trombonist who is also a music performance major, on two pieces: “Bippery No. 6” by Lowell Shaw and “The Overture and Hunting Chorus” by C.M. von Weber. Sarah Stofer is under the instruction of Vance Shoemaker, lecturer in music. She will perform “Hasse Suite” by Johann Hasse, “Morceau de Concours” by Giulio Alary, “Sonatina” by Alexander von Kreisler and “Morceau Symphonique” by Alexandre Guilmant.

Coralyn Kutzner is a music and Spanish double major from Winfield, Ill. She plays multiple percussion, including the marimba, mallet trio, and timpani. Kutzner takes lessons from Tim Hillyer, lecturer in music. Her repertoire will include “You Forgot My Relish” by Tim Lautsenheiser, “Bicyclops” by Béla Fleck, “Perpetual Motion” from John Bergamo’s “Four Pieces for Timpani” and “Rhythm Song” by Paul Smadbeck.
