"Penumbrae," a composition by Dr. Luke Dahn, assistant professor of music at Northwestern College, was featured at two recent music festivals.

The NEXTET Ensemble performed Dahn's work at the Nevada Encounters of New Music Festival held at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas April 8-11. Dahn was one of nine fellows invited to participate in the festival, which included concerts, master classes, presentations and private lessons.

"Penumbrae" was also performed by the NODUS Ensemble as part of the New Music Miami International Society for Contemporary Musical Festival Series on May 3. The composition was one of three chosen out of 75 submitted works.

Dahn joined Northwestern's music faculty in 2007 after earning a doctorate in music composition from the University of Iowa.
