Dancing with the Profs set for Feb. 6

Students and faculty reverse roles in Northwestern College's Dancing with the Profs competition, with students serving as the teacher for their faculty partners. Ten brave professors have volunteered for the event and are currently in rehearsals for the show, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

Dancing with the Profs will feature a variety of dance styles, including swing, salsa and hip-hop. The student participants have choreographed their dance and will perform it with their partner on Feb. 6.

The event, emceed by Northwestern College President Greg Christy and his wife, Michelle, will include video introductions of the pairs, a reprise of last year's winning act by psychology professor Laird Edman and 2009 grad Amanda Maloney, the 2010 performances and judge comments. The winners of the coveted disco ball trophy and a monetary prize will be decided by a live audience vote.

"This event really pulls the community together," says Student Activities Director Lori Couch. "Students love it and pack the place; they like seeing professors be vulnerable and stretch themselves. There's a lot of buzz on campus about this."
