A cappella Choir to tour

Northwestern College's  A cappella Choir will tour in the eastern United States Feb. 29 through March 11. They will perform at churches and a school in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey and New York. Visit www.nwciowa.edu/choirtour for concert times and details.

The ensemble’s three-part concert begins with songs focusing on submission to Christ’s Lordship, followed by virtuosic and humorous selections. It will close with spirituals.

The first part of the concert will include readers’ theatre as vocalists perform pieces like The Conversion of Saul and arrangements of Abide With Me and Give Me Jesus.

Part two features the Heritage Singers chamber choir performing numbers like Flight of the Bumblebee and Tell My Ma. Section two concludes with an all-male rendition of America the Beautiful.

The third part of the concert includes Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down and the choir’s traditional Beautiful Savior.

Northwestern’s A cappella Choir is directed by Dr. Thomas Holm, who also teaches music at the college and conducts the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus. The 60-voice mixed ensemble has performed across the United States and in Europe.

The A cappella Choir will perform a home concert in Orange City on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.
