Marketing pieces win awards

Publications produced by the Northwestern College public relations office have been recognized in the 2007 Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Six awards competition.

The search piece developed for the admissions office received a Silver Award in the student recruitment publication category. In addition, a series of publications produced for the Imagine capital campaign received a Bronze Award in the fund-raising publications category.

The search piece was developed by The Image Group of Holland, Mich., in conjunction with Duane Beeson, Anita Cirulis and Tamara Fynaardt of Northwestern’s public relations office. The publication includes a number of photographs taken by Tom Becker of Orange City and Jim Heemstra of Des Moines.

Also receiving a Silver Award in the student recruitment publication category was Southwestern College of Kansas, while Missouri’s Drury University and St. Louis University both received Bronze Awards. No Gold Awards were given.

Northwestern’s campaign publications were designed by Ryan James of Orange City and written by Fynaardt, with project management overseen by Cirulis. The series featured photographs taken by Heemstra.

In the fund-raising publications category, Kansas State University and the University of Central Missouri won Silver Awards. Bronze Award winners, in addition to Northwestern, were the Association of Graduates at the U.S. Air Force Academy and Creighton University. Again, no Golds were awarded.

The awards were presented at the district’s conference in Kansas City on Jan. 23. District Six includes colleges, universities and independent schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.

This is the fourth consecutive year Northwestern’s public relations office has received recognition in the district competition. Last year, the college’s visual identity system won a Gold Award. A video developed

for the admissions office received a Silver Award in 2005. In 2004, a group of recruiting publications received the Gold Award in the student recruitment series category.
