Neuroscience and persons (NAPs)
Northwestern’s new interdisciplinary career concentration in neuroscience and persons (NAPs) is designed to introduce students to the fascinating study of the brain—and the mind. One of only a handful of such programs at undergraduate Christian colleges across the U.S., Northwestern’s NAPs program includes courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, philosophy, computer science and religion. The program is excellent preparation for medical, graduate or professional training. It also prepares students for a variety of neuroscience-related careers in academia, research, mental health, or the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The NAPs career concentration offers two tracks: a standard option and a neuroscience concentration option.
Standard program
The standard program provides a basic background for fields related to neuroscience and persons generally. It is applicable for students majoring in fields like computer science, education, philosophy, religion or social work who want to add increased knowledge of the brain and mind to their career preparation.

Neuroscience concentration program
The neuroscience concentration program provides a more intensive science background for students in disciplines like biology, chemistry and psychology who want to better prepare for further graduate, professional or research training in clinical or experimental neuroscience, mental health and counseling, biotechnology or pharmacology. This program is excellent preparation for students who want to pursue professional training in many medical health specialties such as psychiatry, neurology, neuropathology, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, pharmacology, cardiology, neurodiagnostics, audiology and speech-language pathology, occupational and physical therapy, and orthotics and prosthetics.
