NWC Symphonic Band Tour
2007
Chihuahua, Mexico

The 65-member NWC Symphonic Band traveled to Chihuahua, Mexico, for a concert tour in March in 2007. After a snow storm delayed our departure two days, we arrived in Mexico on March 5 and spent the next 8 days performing, traveling, sight-seeing and working in soup kitchens and an orphanage. It was an incredible experience performing for thousands of Chihuahua citizens, making music with the Chihuahua State Philharmonic Orchestra, ministering through music and service, and building relationships with wonderful people. We are very grateful to José and Alex, missionaries with Christian Outreach International, for their incredible work in putting this tour together for us.

Alex, Julia, and José. Alex and José were the organizers of our tour and were with us every step of the way. Julia cooked all of our wonderful meals at the mission base. We are very grateful for the wonderful way they each ministered to us.
Camargo Municipal Theater<br/>Rehearsal prior to performance in Camargo. This was our first of five concerts in the state of Chihuahua. We performed in the cities of Camargo, Delicias, and Chihuahua.
Joint concert with the NWC Symphonic Band and the Chihuahua State Philharmonic Orchestra. We performed the <em>Revueltas La noche de los Mayas</em> and the <em>Barnes Third Symphony, Op. 89</em> together.
Students contributed their own spending money to buy groceries for 20 impoverished families. In this photo we are getting ready to go to homes to deliver the food.

Expo Center during setup for our concert. This concert, sponsored by Palabra Viva Church, had over 3,000 people in attendance. The church pastor preached during intermission of our concert and over 500 people made decisions to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Responding to a specific need, the band members, after arriving home from Mexico, raised money to purchase shoes for some children who needed them at one of the soup kitchens. This photo is of Pastor Jorgé and with some of the shoes after they arrived at his mission.
